Stunning coastal trails in South Wales
Take on one of the UK’s most scenic challenges in the Gower Peninsula, the country’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
With golden beaches, limestone cliffs, moorland and woodland, this is a spectacular route for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to make a difference for people living with dementia.
The challenge is based at Penrice Castle, with a range of distance options and weekend camping. Whether you’re walking, jogging or running, solo or with others, there’s something here for all fitness levels.
What’s included:
- A choice of distances: 10 km, 25 km, marathon (42 km), 50 km or 100 km
- Fully signed and supported route
- Rest stops every ~12.5 km with hot food, snacks, drinks and medical support
- Camping packages or pitch-your-own at Basecamp (Cost to be covered by the participant)
- Medal, T-shirt and celebration at the finish line
- Dementia Adventure fundraising support and branded T-shirt

By taking part in the Gower Peninsula Challenge for Dementia Adventure, you’re helping us provide supported holidays, inclusive outdoor experiences and training for family carers. We’re a small charity, so your fundraising really does make a big impact.
To join the challenge, you’ll need to commit to a fundraising pledge that covers your place and supports our work:

- Fundraising targets range from £150 to £575, depending on the challenge and distance you choose

When is the Gower Peninsula Challenge?
The event takes place over the weekend of 18–19 July 2026.
Where does it start and finish?
The basecamp is located in the historic grounds of Penrice Castle. The 100 km route is a figure-of-eight loop, and shorter options are based on sections of this.
Can I take part with friends or a team?
Yes, absolutely. It’s a great option for individuals, friends, or colleagues. With multiple distances, it works well for mixed-ability groups too.

Is there overnight camping?
