A Day at Another Place

Special Picnic Day at Another Place Hotel, The Lake

Date: June 18th, 2025
Location: Ullswater, Lake District

Join us for a relaxed, restorative day in one of the UK’s most scenic spots. Hosted at Another Place, The Lake, this event is part of our Green Letter Days programme – a series of uplifting experiences designed for people living with dementia and their companions to enjoy meaningful time together in beautiful surroundings.

Another Place, The Lake is a relaxed, contemporary hotel on the shores of Ullswater in the heart of the Lake District National Park. With panoramic views, thoughtfully designed spaces like the Glasshouse, and a strong connection to nature and wellbeing, it’s an ideal setting for a gentle, enjoyable day. As proud supporters of Dementia Adventure, Another Place is one of our valued partners and has generously offered to host this special picnic event for us.

What to Expect

  • A stunning lakeside setting at a contemporary hotel in the Lake District National Park.
  • Tea and coffee on arrival 11.00am
  • A guided garden tour from 11:30am–12:30pm, led by head gardener James Cox, exploring the vibrant vegetable and herb gardens (weather permitting).
  • A relaxed picnic lunch from 1–2pm, with beautiful views over Ullswater. If the weather isn’t on our side, we’ll move indoors to the Glasshouse.
  • A calming flower arranging session from 2–3pm, with flowers, vases and tools generously donated by Freddie’s Flowers – yours to take home and enjoy.

Who is it for?

This event is open to five couples — one person living with dementia and their carer or companion — and is entirely free to attend. All food, drink and activities are included.
