Dementia Activism

In May 2011 and May 2012 Dementia Adventure was invited to support experimental residential workshops involving people with dementia who campaign for social change, a filmmaker, and installation artist.

The workshops involved people working together to prepare for an exhibition to raise awareness of dementia. The exhibition launched at the British Science Festival. Watch the Agnes and Nancy film.

This project was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council under the ‘Follow on Funding’ Scheme, Principal Investigator, Dr Ruth Bartlett, Senior Lecturer, University of Southampton; Co-Investigator Ms Caroline Hick, Fellow in Visual Arts, University of Bradford. Dementia Adventure has since gone on to further support Dr Ruth Bartlett in 2017 with a residential research project on ‘safer walking and GPS technology’ held in the New Forest in 2017.
