Cultivating Wellbeing Within Our Local Community
At Dementia Adventure, we are dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing of our local community through engaging initiatives like our gardening group, led by volunteer Debbie Anderson at the Jubilee Allotment site in Great Dunmow, Essex, conveniently located near our headquarters. With her background as our former Head of Training, Research, and Consultancy, Debbie brings a wealth of expertise to this initiative, exemplifying our commitment to changing perceptions of dementia.
Spending time outdoors can bring real benefits to people living with dementia — from lifting spirits to fostering a deep sense of connection. In fact, research shows that time in nature can support wellbeing, reduce stress, and promote a sense of meaning and purpose.
Our two-hour gardening sessions, held every Friday morning, offer a welcoming space to enjoy nature, share skills, and grow fresh produce alongside others who appreciate the simple pleasures of being outside.
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just curious to try, these sessions are about finding purpose, building friendships, and enjoying the rhythm of the seasons in good company. We believe in creating a supportive, social environment where everyone can flourish.
Best of all, the Jubilee Club is free to attend, thanks to the generous support of the Fowler Smith and Jones Trust. Their contribution helps us continue serving the Essex community and making a positive difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.
