  • Discovering the Joy of Hassle-Free Adventure: Harriet’s Macs Adventure Experience on The West Highland Way & Great Glen Way

As Harriet’s journey along The D Tour continues, she’s reached a particularly exciting chapter thanks to her headline sponsor, Macs Adventure.

Known for their meticulously planned self-guided walking and cycling holidays, Macs Adventure has enabled Harriet to focus on the heart of her mission—raising awareness and funds for dementia—while they take care of the logistics.

Harriet, who typically plans her trips, reflects on her experience with Macs Adventure as she tackles the iconic West Highland Way and Great Glen Way—two of Scotland’s most stunning long-distance trails.

I've always planned my hiking holidays, including my 3-month hike from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise money for Dementia Adventure, but Macs Adventure, who specialise in self-guided walking and cycling holidays, have generously sponsored me for this part of my trip.

With over 20 years of experience and hundreds of self-guided trips across 40 countries, Macs Adventure is a leader in helping adventurers explore at their own pace. Their goal? To take the complexity out of organising a trip, leaving travellers to simply enjoy their journey.

There's quite a lot of specialism in organising these trips, but what we do is take that away from you and enable you to concentrate on the walking, be in the moment, and not have to worry about anything else

For Harriet, having the support of Macs Adventure has made a noticeable difference. As she walks these famous Scottish trails, she’s able to immerse herself in the experience, knowing the logistics are being expertly handled behind the scenes.

Here’s what she’s discovered along the way:

Accommodation? Sorted!

“It’s great having someone organise my accommodation. That’s taken a long, boring job off my list,” Harriet says with a smile. Finding places to stay along the route can be time-consuming, but with Macs Adventure’s planning, she can rest easy after a day of hiking, knowing everything is arranged.

Lighten the Load

Macs Adventure’s baggage transfer service has been a game-changer for Harriet. “It’s so nice to take advantage of baggage transfer and walk with 2kg in my back instead of 10kg,” she explains. The convenience of not having to carry all her gear has allowed her to focus on enjoying the landscape and each step of the journey.

The Handy Macs Adventure App

With all her trip information in one place, including a GPS route map, Harriet is able to navigate confidently. “The app is amazing. It tells me all about my route, including a nice, easy-to-follow map with a big fat arrow on it, telling me where I am,” she says.

The Verdict?

Harriet sums up her experience with Macs Adventure, saying:

“If you’re time-poor, don’t like organising trip itineraries, and would rather not carry all your kit, get in touch with Macs Adventure.”
