Training and preparation
Open-water swimming can feel very different from swimming in a pool, so some preparation is recommended. Many participants build confidence by practising in open water and gradually increasing distance.
Wetsuits are commonly worn for warmth and buoyancy, and safety teams are present throughout the event.
