Take on a once-in-a-lifetime challenge and support people living with dementia
The Sahara Desert Trek is a unique overseas challenge set in the dramatic landscapes of southern Morocco. Over several days, you’ll trek through sand dunes, rocky plains and wide-open desert, supported by experienced guides and a full support crew provided by the event facilitator, Discover Adventure.
It’s a demanding but rewarding experience and a great option if you’re looking for a bigger personal challenge while raising funds to support people living with dementia and their families.

What’s included:
- Return flight from London to Morocco (including airline taxes)
- Accommodation on a twin-share basis, including hotels and camping
- Group camping equipment, including sleeping mats
- All meals except where specified
- Discover Adventure crew, depending on group size
- Local guides, cooks, camels, cameleers and drivers
- Vehicle support and back-up equipment
- Entry to any sites visited as part of the itinerary
What’s not included:
- Travel insurance
- Sleeping bag
- Any meals listed as not included in the itinerary
- Personal spending money, souvenirs, drinks and tips for local guides and support crew
- Fees for any optional sites, attractions or activities
- Any applicable surcharges as outlined in the Terms and Conditions

Fundraising & Fees
By taking part in the Sahara Desert Trek for Dementia Adventure, you’ll help us fund supported holidays, outdoor experiences, and training for families affected by dementia. As a small charity, challenge events like this are an important part of how we raise funds.
Costs:
- Registration fee : £195 – non-refundable (paid to Discover Adventure)
- Fundraising: £2,300 (minimum) to Dementia Adventure, 10 weeks before departure (Exact costs may vary depending on the departure date and package selected.)
Your fundraising helps cover the cost of the challenge, with the remaining funds going directly to Dementia Adventure. Anything raised above your target fully supports our work.

- Ongoing support from our team
- A T shirt to wear during the challenge
Training and preparation
This is a challenging trek, but very achievable with preparation. Discover Adventure provide:
- Pre-departure briefings
- Training advice
- Kit lists and preparation guidance
- On-challenge support from experienced leaders
Many participants are not experienced trekkers when they sign up. Preparation, pacing yourself and having the right kit are the most important factors.

How long is the challenge?
This is typically a 7-day challenge that includes travel and several days of trekking.
How difficult is the trek?
It is considered challenging due to the terrain and climate, but no technical trekking experience is required. A good level of fitness and preparation is recommended.
Where do you stay?
Participants stay in hotels at the start and end of the trip and camp in the desert during the trek (cost to be covered by the participant).
Do I need previous trekking experience?
No, but you should be comfortable walking for several hours a day and prepared to train beforehand.
Can I take part with friends or colleagues?
Yes. These challenges are suitable for individuals, friends or workplace teams looking to take on something memorable together.
